  • What is grounding:

    The earth is like a massive battery that contains a natural, subtle electrical charge - a special kind of energy present in the ground. For safety and stability, almost everything in the electrical world is connected to it, whether it is an electric power plant or your refrigerator. That’s what the term “grounded” means.


    Being grounded also applies to people. When you make direct contact with the earth’s surface by walking barefoot on soil, grass, rocks or swimming in water - you are electrically grounded too.

    The Earth is one giant battery with its own negative charge. You too are electrical, with your very own cells transmitting to your heart, nervous, and immune systems.


    Throughout history humans walked, sat and slept on the ground, cultivated their land with bare hands and spent a lot of their time naturally grounded. However, today, we have become increasingly disconnected from mother nature by our modern lifestyle. Conductive leather-soled shoes of our ancestors have been replaced with insulated rubber and plastics. We sleep in beds and homes off the ground. Plastics, synthetic fabrics, asphalt, tar, carpets, vinyl have all been introduced and block this natural connection to mother earth. To add to this, we also use all types of conveniences and devices like computers, mobile phones, wi-fi, microwaves and cell towers, which provide an excess of free radical damage to our tissues and cells. The earth’s energy helps to reduce these excess free radicals so that your body can heal and repair naturally. Therefore, it is vital that we reconnect with this natural energy daily to counteract the damaging effects of our modern lifestyle.

  • How does an Earth and Moon grounding mat work?

    Grounding mats create an electrical connection between your body and the earth. The idea is to replicate the physical connectivity you would make by walking barefoot on the earth’s surface. This connection allows free electrons to flow from the earth and into your body to create a neutral electrical charge. Any metallic material will conduct the flow of electrons. Earth and Moon grounding products typically use carbon as the conductive agent. Carbon is highly conductive and very strong, allowing it to hold up well with frequent use and washings. Moreover, it is inherently anti-microbial.


    A grounding mat works by connecting, via a cord, to the ground port of your electrical outlet. You can place your grounding mat on the floor, desk or bed - wherever you like. We recommend having direct contact with your bare skin (hands or feet) however you can also place your grounding mat beneath your bed sheet - your body naturally produces a little bit of sweat while you sleep making you remain conductive to the earth’s energy.

  • Do grounding products run on electricity?

    No. They simply pick up the Earth’s energy through the ground port of a properly grounded outlet or from a ground rod placed directly in the Earth and deliver it via a cord to the conductive grounding product, specially designed for human grounding.


    It does not conduct the electrical power that operates your lights and appliances in the house. When your body comes in contact with the grounding product you absorb the earth’s energy.

  • How to get grounded using an Earth and Moon grounding mat:

    Step 1: Test if your wall outlet is properly grounded using the outlet tester provided.
    Step 2: Connect the snap end of your grounding cord to your grounding mat.
    Step 3: Plug the other end of your grounding cord into the US safety adaptor.
    Step 4: Plug the US safety adaptor into the wall outlet that you tested using your outlet tester.
    Step 5: Sit, stand or lie down on the mat and enjoy the benefits of grounding in the comfort of your home.

  • What if my house is not properly grounded?

    It is possible that if you live in an older building, your outlets are not properly grounded. You can consult with your local electrician and see if they can retrofit the building with a dedicated grounding system. If this isn’t possible, you could place a ground rod in the earth outdoors and connect your mat to that; however please always consult with your electrician.


    If neither of these options are possible, try to spend some barefoot time in nature if possible, and consider using an Earth and Moon grounding device at the office and when you travel.

    Everybody who practices grounding should benefit in some way, but we are all different. For some people, the benefits can come quickly and dramatically. And for others, much more subtly. Some people might feel a slight tingling sensation if they are sensitive to energy, others may not feel anything.     Similarly, outdoors, natural body grounding is widely considered a safe method, provided you’re cautious about where you practice it.


    If you’re very sensitive to electromagnetic fields, or you notice a rapid change in your cortisol levels and general wellness, this could cause a slight shock to your system. We recommend gradually exposing yourself to the benefits of our grounding products at the beginning to avoid these side effects.


    You may start with 10 to 30 minutes of grounding per day.

    Taking it slow can help you keep your risk levels low. However, if you do notice any side effects, they will unlikely be extremely severe unless there is a problem with your grounding strategy.
